Central Authorities Unit
The Central Authorities Unit [CAU] is dedicated to the provision of authorities for any covert activity conducted by NCA operational teams across the UK.
The CAU provides support and advice/guidance to applicants and partners in relation to the authorisation of covert activity in accordance with Part III of the Police Act 1997, Part 2 of RIPA 2000 and IPA 2016 and Section 49 Requests. They act as the NCA's SPOC with IPCO (Investigatory Powers Commissioners Office) for guidance and approval.
Control Centre
The NCA Control Centre operates 24/7, 365 days a year maintaining vital situational awareness of the NCA's operational activity. The Control Centre provides the Command Team with situational awareness of operational capacity, capability, effectiveness and support to Critical Incident Commanders, treats risk and dynamically transfers risk to the appropriate stakeholder, whilst building public confidence.
Child Sexual Exploitation Referrals Bureau & Designated Reporting Body (CSERB)
The CSE Referrals Bureau receives industry referrals reporting the upload and sharing of indecent images and videos of children (IIOC) online and works with the NCA and partners to ensure an appropriate law enforcement response.
Gateway
The Gateway is consistent, multichannel, ‘Front Door’ entry point into the NCA as per NCA Annual Plan.
The Gateway function will provide a consistent entry point for all new information and intelligence requests and referrals requiring NCA operational assessment. Currently incorporates six units with other business units to be integrated.
National Covert De-Confliction Bureau (NCDB)
The NCDB is responsible for the management of sensitive information which enhances and supports national law enforcement capabilities for both the NCA and partners.
Regional Organised Crime Co-ordinators
ROCCs are part of the NCA Tasking structure and have the delegated authority of the head of NCA Tasking as per section 3 of the Crime and Courts Act 2013. The ROCC and their Deputy will be as visible and accessible as possible to partners. They will form part of the ROCU SLT and attend key strategic and operational meetings with partners to fulfil their responsibilities. ROCCs are responsible for building and maintaining effective relationships with partners and should be the single contact point for any issues that arise in any given ROCUs / regions.
Tasking teams
NCA Tasking is responsible for the receipt, review, management and coordination of tasking proposals developed within the NCA, and retain ultimate authority as to whether activity will be tasked to an NCA team as well as working with our partners to ensure a whole system response to serious and organised crime.
UK National Central Office (UKNCO)
The UKNCO provides a central national service to the NCA and partners around the coordination of operational activity against counterfeit currency criminality, developing intelligence concerning counterfeit currency production and provide expert analysis and evidence to support prosecutions.
UK Protected Persons Service (UKPPS)
The UK Protected Persons Service provides authorised and specialist protection arrangements to individuals, witnesses and other vulnerable people at risk of serious harm. The NCA is responsible for delivering the UK Protected Persons Service nationally alongside aligned partners, The Metropolitan Police Service, Police Scotland and Police Service Northern Ireland (PSNI).
It is a multi-functional team of operational, intelligence and finance and business support officers using both traditional methods and covert capabilities that are not replicated within UK Law Enforcement.
