Two arrested by the NCA in illegal immigration investigation

National Crime Agency officers have arrested two people in Derby as part of an investigation into illegal immigration.

A 43-year-old man was detained on suspicion of knowingly employing illegal workers at a property in the Sinfin area of the city this morning (15 July).

A 43-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of money laundering at the same address, following the seizure of a quantity of cash.

Both are now being questioned by NCA investigators.

A property in the St Ann’s area of Nottingham, and a car wash in Beeston, Nottingham, were also searched as part of today’s operation.

The arrests follow a multi-Agency visit to the same car wash, involving Nottinghamshire Police, East Midlands Special Operations Unit and Immigration Enforcement officers, last month, which led to one man being detained by for immigration offences.

NCA Regional Head of Investigations, Jacque Beer, said:

“Today’s arrests are part of an ongoing NCA investigation which will continue with evidence we have seized today.

“Tackling organised immigration crime is a priority for the NCA, and we are doing all we can to target and disrupt the networks involved.”
