Fraud Explained

Fraud Explained is a public awareness campaign from the National Crime Agency, designed to help people understand the tactics criminals use to commit fraud, the warning signs to watch out for, and the simple steps you can take to protect yourself and your loved ones.

Through a series of short explainer videos, the campaign explores common types of fraud, reveals the tactics criminals use to appear legitimate, and provides practical advice to help protect your money, personal information and accounts.

By increasing public awareness, the campaign aims to build confidence, encourage vigilance and support fraud prevention across the UK.

Romance fraud

Romance fraud often begins with what appears to be a genuine relationship. It can happen to anyone, and can be especially convincing when you're looking for connection or company. This video explains how fraudsters build trust, the warning signs to look out for, and what to do if you suspect you or someone you know may be being targeted.

Phishing fraud

Phishing fraud relies on deception to steal personal information, financial details or money. From fake delivery notifications to contact claiming to be from your bank, it can take many forms. This video explains how phishing attempts work, the warning signs to watch for, and the steps you can take to keep your information and money safe.
